So I was backing out of a parking spot in a parking lot, turned the wheel to the right to back up in the correct direction. I then turned the wheel to the left and put it in 1st gear. At this time I noticed the person on the opposite side of the parking lot decided he wanted to back out too, and didn't see I was behind him. The corner of his bumper backed right into my driver side door.

I also have some scuffs on the fender.


We swapped information and went on our way (he admitted to being at fault to the officer). My insurance company is being awesome and has already scheduled me an appointment at the body shop tomorrow and set me up in a rental car (Camry for the win!).

Do you guys think it will have to be painted? Cause paint isn't going to match up because of how faded the rest of it is.

P.S. I wanted to post this in this forum (as apposed to the non-ITR forum) because I don't know anyone in that forum and consider a lot of you to be my friends.

It seems like some of the scrapes are deep. It will probably need to be re-painted, unless you don't mind an ugly touch-up paint job.

Most of it seems like a dent repair place will be able to pop back out.

 

remand a new or used door...if you can see, the dent was deep enough to hit the rebar inside the door. that "might" have weaken the metal this if you get t-boned, it wouldnt have it's stregth no more.

 

my passenger side door looks just like that and it has been like that for almost 4 years.

so I picked up my rental today, they actually gave me a Ford escape (which happens to be the car that hit me).

This "car" (whatever you actually call it) has NO passing power at all. I'll have to see what I can do about that before I return it.

just get a new door and paint, my car is in the shop for a rear door on my teg, got Tboned in a driveway... stupid drunk bitches that drive xterras. at first she wouldnt admit to it, i got surveillance video from my friends driveway cams and got her busted, im lucky that i got those tapes. or else it would have cost me 1600$ in damages according to the body shop that quoted me. i was hoping on a new paint job but unfortunately the shop was unwilling to work with me on that one.

Don't think those dents are fixable without messing up that paint area. Will probably need repainted. Let us know what happens.

 

They have already told me they are most likely going to have to repaint, and that they will do the best they can to blend it but it will be noticeable because the paint is so faded. So I'm a little worried about how it will turn out. I do not have the money to paint the whole thing.

 

that is my current worry also. i guess ill post pics when i get the car back, i just got off the phone with the body shop, they said they just ordered my door, and car should be done by end of friday if not the begining of next week.

 

same here, said I should pick next friday.

The decieded to replace the door and fender, and they promised the paint wont be noticeable if you are looking at it, it will just be different from the other side of the car.

 

UPDATE::

So I went to pick the car up today, and it's bad, it is very obvious that the door and fender have been recleared. It doesn't match the quater panel at all.

So I bitched and had them send it back to have the quater panel buffed and polished (they wont paint it)

 

They wont paint it because the insurance company wont pay them to do it. The car is old, the paint is faded its never gonna look perfect.
