Default Rebuild b16 tranny or go GSR?

Hey I have a b16 engine and tranny in my car (the one that has real short gears and does 70 on the highway at 5k rpm's). Lately the car has been grinding slightly when shifting from 1-2, 2-3, 4-5 gears at high rpm's. Also 2nd gear has been popping out at high rpm's also. I think its synchros, but im running 10-30 in the trans. Could fluid be the prob? I know honda mtf is best, but 1030 was all i had at the time. Assuming I need new synchros, would it be better/cheaper for me to get a GSR lsd trans or to rebuild my trans and add lsd. I know the b16 is good for 1/4 mile and such, but should i go gsr? TIA

it's not the fluid....it's probably the syncro and the sleeve. I reccomend a rebuild for a couple of reasons. One, the B16 tranny has better gearing, your car would be slower with a GSR tranny, and Two, with a rebuild you know exactly what you have, you aren't taking any chances.

also....I have an LSD for sale...check my sig.

Rebuild the B16 w/ LSD. Don't worry about the highway revs, it's a b16.

to me it really depends on your plans for the car if its something you plan to run 1/4 miles in then the b16 gear rations are better, however if its just a daily driver i would go for the gsr its much nicer on long trips my b16a2 tranny does irritate me on longer trips i will admit...you can always swap out 5th for an ls 5th during the rebuild...

Im no trans. expert but why not rebuild it with a lower# 5th gear? Its a popular hybrid with the D series teg trannies w/ accord 5th gear.

Here's some valuable info if you go with an OBX LSD.

If your 2nd gear pops out than its most likely a bent shift fork inside the tranny. That would probably explain the grinding in other gears.
