Default ticking sound

Hello,

My car has developed a ticking sound and it only happens when the car is in gear and moving. Only happens in gears 1,2,3, and 5 I have not noticed the sound in 4th gear. it sounds like the wheel of fortune wheel ticking. I have a feeling its coming from my transmission, but people have told me otherwise, any ideas what I should check for?

also when i rev it in neutral the car sounds fine.

Thanks!

Ever had the axles changed? Very probable it's the CV joint(s).

Other possibilities: tranny, wheel bearing, ball joint.

I would lean more toward the tranny, axles, or bearing since you said it does it when you move. The others would most likely be heard in curves and hitting bumps.

try getting on a dyno so you can load the car while in one spot and listen.
