Does It Feel Good?
my R heart is pretty much stock which should be around 170whp.
for those who are fortunate enough to hit 200+whp, how would you describe the feeling of the extra 30+whp? how big of a difference did it make? ive personally have never ridden in such a R before, and i already think my stockish R feels "fast"

If feels good.
You dont have to "floor" it to get moving. You have passing power in any gear. But you dont really feel neck breaking speed like in Turbo Hondas.
If you were near my neck of the woods I would offer you a spin in mine.

200whp would feel like a 20% faster car (17.647058823529411764705882352%)
-just trying to be a smarta$$. To be helpful... I ran next to a fairly stock ITR with mine and I didn't push it all the way and went right past him (220whp).

The closest thing I can think of is like going from a stock ITR to one with a 4.9 FD. The change is dramatic. Now with 200 WHP, you do some tuning and the power comes on sooner and it's more linear (provided the tuner knows what he's doing)
Personally I'm at 192 WHP with the 4.9 and it's awesome!!!

Yeah my goal this year is to get around 220-225whp N/A.. granted it'll take some cash but not THAT much compared to some of the other insane setups on here.
I think after that I'll be happy forever...... I hope.

Ha!!! I'll bet you eat those words!
I know the 4.7 made a world of difference in the feel of the car. I'd probably take that over any power adding mods first.

to help you get more to the point...
200+ peak hp means nothing if the gains are coming in the last 1000 rpm or so...
you will feel nothing from that
what you will feel is if you get your setup to make those same increases in the low-to- midrange section of your power band...hell i would take less if it means the gains are from 4000rpm on up
for the extreme example, i'd rather do some mods, get on the dyno to find that i am at the same peak hp as before the mods but a closer look at my dyno graph shows 15-20 lbs of tq/hp increase from 4000 rpm on up than my stock setup

With my old ITR (built 2.0L with 4.9FD), I raced an ITR with I/H/E and Toda A's. We did a highway run from 65mph. We were pretty much side by side. Oh yeah, he was in 3rd gear and I was in 5th.
I had 210 whp with my 1.8L setup.
I just got the sleeved 2.0L put in and still am breaking it in. Now the wheels break loose in 2nd gear.... should be interesting to see what the improvement is.
Over a stock car it is like comparing a stock 911 Porsche to a GT3.
The engine feels more alive, more willing to rev and claw at the pavement like a cat with its *** on fire.
Definitely a smile widener

if street racing is what you want your R for, i would suggest a turbo and not NA
because with 2k in mods, an evo can run high 11's at 115mph
and you wont be doing that with an NA car, at least not an ITR
my next car will be NA, but im also going to take my car to the track a lot (not drag)

a stock EVO is garbage on the highway. they fall on their face at higher RPM. So it doesnt take much to pull on an EVO on the highway. but to answer your question I was able to pull on my friends reflashed EVO back in the day and I was around 209whp. there are a lot of factors involved.

Agreed. I was able to barely pull on my friends EVO8 w/exhaust when I just had header/exhaust/final drive. And again after I built my 2.0L and he had a full tune and full dp/exhaust...at that point he was trapping at 111-112.
Now he has an MR with AMS .50 trim kit...yea 118-120mph traps are nearly impossible on a street driven N/A ITR.
If I were trying to build a highway king, turbo is the only way to go.

if you really wanna "feel" the extra 30 hp.. have 3 passengers on your car and drive around for a while.. then drop all of them off.. and go for a ride. .. that's how it would feel like
i went from 164 whp with 4.4 fd to. 205+ whp with 4.9 fd. and i gotta say it's quite the difference but once you get used to it.. it will feel slow again

haha not a bad idea. just be careful with other people in your car.
also, i didnt think it would be possible, but once youre used to it, 500whp can even feel relatively slow lol

Let me jump in here.. I've got 206whp in my R and it is definitely sweet. You will find yourself driving the higher gears more often and upshifting sooner in the rev-scale. On the flip side, the car will start pulling sooner and harder when you downshift. I've yet to take the car to the strip but my G-tech consistently reads very low 13sec passes at 108-109MPH. I've raced a friend's Si that runs consistent 13.0 at the 1/4 mile and I always pull on him so I guess the G-tech isn't that much off.
All in all.. go for the magic 200 ... You wont be dissapointed.
