throttlebody positioning sensor
So this ******* in front of me kept braking, and i was getting a little agrivated to say the least,
... to the point..
I began pumping the gas and dumping the clutch in 2nd, and all of a sudden, my engine began revving all the way up to 7000RPM, with my foot not on the gas, so im sitting here in the traffic with my engine nearly redlining I quickly pulled into a nearby burger king, and turned the car off for a minute, started it back up, as soon as it came on..
vroom, all the way back up to 7000, checked to make sure the throttle cable is moving the throttle lever properly, and everything seemed normal. Anyways, we leave it off for about 15 minutes, go in and grab a bite to eat and come back out, and the problem fixed itself. 2 days, and it didn't do it again, A buddy of mine said it could be the throttlebody positioning sensor, if it was, would it have fixed itself, or does it act spuratic? Or is it something totally different?Any insight on this matter would def help, so thanks in advance.

Yes I did,
I know, you guys don't ever drive aggressivly when you're upset about something, do you?
Anybody actually have an answer, or atleast anything more useful than a scolding?

its most likely that your IAC valve got stuck, if it happens again smack it with somthing to see if it drops backto idle. the other possibility is that your throttle plate was stuck open with some sort of debris like carbon or somthing but i dont think so
btw u sure it went all the way up cuz i thought fuel cut was at like 4 or 5k with out being in gear?
n e way good luck

When I first got my 2001 EX, the carpets were upside down (don't ask me why, it was the dealer's move). So, when I got on the highway, under normal acceleration, I went to shift and the RPM's jumped up to the redline and started the bouncing routine. Turns out the gas pedal got stuck under the carpet.
Anyways, my point was that I've had my RPM's jump up to the redline with the clutch depressed.

I have a little bit of road rage every now and again, but I never try to beat the snot out of my car. Sure, I'll give it a little more gas than usual and drive more aggressively, but never slow pace behind someone. If you're going to have road rage, wait until you've got the room to use it, so as to put less harm on the car.
