95 del sol died while I was driving it. Distributor rotor not spinning what do I replase?
Hi I found some of my answers on your site - here is where I am stuck.
My car died while I was driving it the other day - just quit running. The crank turns and everything sounds right it just wont start.
I checked for spark and found none. So I took off the distributor cap and the rotor thing in there does not spin when the car is trying to start. What do I replace? The whole black thing under the rotor? The rotor or what?
Also I read something about lining the rotor up when I put the new one on. Um what do I line up and to where?
Thanks in advance!

Well I hope you don't have a bigger problem than the rotor.
First, Can you spin it by hand?
2nd, If not then you might have broke the timing belt.
Pull the valve cover and then the top timing belt cover.
See if the belt is good.
I got my fingers crossed for you "X" I hope it is just the rotor

if the the rotor doesnt spin check if your timing belt is still on. and the rotor can only go on one way.
That is going to be too long for me to keep my fingers crossed.
Good luck

don't put a new belt on until you know the valves are fine. if they are bent i would just get a new motor. good time to upgrade and in my mind an easier fix (cheaper in some cases)
I am still working on this! I have the pulley thing off and removed all the bolts around the lower timing belt cover but the sucker is stuck. How do I get it off? Is there a bolt in the middle of it?
I put it back together with a new belt and it works great. The only problem is I have 4 bolts leftover and 2 of them are very big. I hope thats not a problem.
