Default Tube & Fin Construction or Bar & Plate

Like the title says. Which is better? I'm looking at a JDM Sport FMIC on Ebay and a CX MotorSports FMIC. The JDM Sport one is a tube and fin design and the CX Motorsports is a bar and plate. Which would be better? The CX one is $94 shipped and the JDM is $85. I don't mind paying an extra $9 for a better intercooler.

bar and plates are usually better, but when buying a 100dollar IC, its hard to say.

Go with the bar and plate.

Go with the bar and plate.

BUT BEWARE!!!

The FMIC that JDMCarrier sells is NOT the one pictured, and is NOT a bar and plate intercooler!!!

I bought one from him and the auction showed a bar and plate, the exact same pictures that are in the auction you listed above... but he sent me a cheap tube and fin! I told him that there must have been a mix up and sent him 8 pictures of the incorrect intercooler, he refused a refund and gave me negative feedback.

This is the intercooler that he sent me! Not even close to what was in the auction pics.

DO NOT buy from JDMCarrier, they are way shady. After I sent him the pictures he told me that the FMIC I got was in fact bar and plate, but anyone can see that it is clearly not the FMIC pictured in the auction.

EJ1, JDMcarrier's ad says that it is a tube and fin design. I bought the one from CX Motorsports. It was $94 shipped. Thanks for all the help.

The add says that it's both bar and plate AND tube and fin.... I emailed him ahead of time and he told me that it's a true bar and plate core. Which is obviously a lie. Plus the picture is clearly bar and plate, not tube/fin.

It's illegal to show a picture of one thing and ship another. The picture creates an explicit warranty. Legally, if you don't receive exactly what's in the picture, then the seller is responsible for fixing the situation.

Anyways, it's totally shady to post up a picture of a bar and plate in the auction, and tell buyers that it's bar and plate, then ship tube a fin.

You made the right choice by not buying from them

vtec.dc2, I'm don't really have any HP goals. I know that's kind of stupid but I only want to run about 5 psi on my H23. That's why I'm going pretty cheap on everything.

EJ1, I didn't even notice the bar & plate in the title or the description. I just read the description. But thanks for letting me know how much they suck.

PnoyEj6, That thing is huge. I went with a smaller one that should fit.

I bought a Tial 38mm wastegate, custom top mount mani, and partial downpipe for $225. I just bought the CX Motorsports FMIC for $94. I am going to get a cheap HKS SSQV style BOV from Ebay. I also am getting a boost gauge and water and oil temp gauges for $43 shipped. I bought a P06 for $30 and am going to chip it or at least I hope it will work with my car considering it's an auto. Then I just need oil lines and some piping for the IC. I'm going to run a Garrett/ AiResearch T3 from a Saab. Kind of small but it should be good enough. Here are some pics of the mani, turbo, and WG on my cardomain site. Yea I know the paint won't last lol.
