I was just reading this thread yesterday (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1676914.
I'm almost positive you're suppose to use an LS head gasket. If you're going to get the Golden Eagle kit, supposedly their head gaskets are for the GSR engine and leak oil. Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not 100% sure. In for a solid answer.

Quoted from bambam in his thread..

Alot of people have had problems with the vtec head gasket. You are supposed to use the gasket that matches the block with this setup to prevent leaks. I don't know why goldeneagle hasn't addressed this problem yet. Whether or not THEY think it's the right gasket, it's not. A majority of people who want to buy their kit, don't, for the simple fact that it includes the wrong gasket.
It's simple really. Think about it logically. What direction do the fluids flow in a motor? From top to bottom or from bottom to top? That's right, they are pumped from the block upward. Now, would you want those fluids hitting the gasket on the way up, or would you rather it hit the cylinder head itself? The right answer is the cylinder head. That way, it won't get "under" the gasket and create leaks. The vtec head gasket matches the head, and therefore, the pumped fluids hit it. By matching the gasket to the block, the fluids will never "hit" the gasket on the way up.

Found where I read it at. . Still in for that answer.

That sort of makes sense. But I'm in for the answer.

you buy the headgasket for the block. NOT for the head.

Exactly, do Not use the gsr/b16/type-r hg, depending on what head you have.

So say you had a b20 block instead of the b18, then you'd buy a crv/b20 headgasket.

I dunno what kits you're talking about, but stay away from the ebay bundlepacks,
only thing I'd use from them is the nuts for the valvecover..

i have ran the eagle lsvtec head gasket with ZERO oil leaks from the head. if you run the ls head gasket, you will need to seal around the intake side with some volvo high temp sealant. thats what a lot of my friends have used and it works wonders.

anymore info on this, where to seal and so on. just put one together and have oil on the tranny side using an ls headgasket.

hondabond will do the trick. ive always seen intake side leaks, below the vtec solenoid/dizzy leak. just look where the gasket matches to the vtec head and anywhere on the OUTSIDE of the gasket put a good bead of sealant that can withstand 500+ degrees i.e: hondabond, volvobond. let it sit for 24 hrs to get a good cure before cranking it over.

On a side note, I notice that my ls hg didn't match my GSR head very well is that going to be a problem? And it must be the vtec hgs that people have to modify for the dowels.

if you have access to a compressor and a high speed grinding tool or a dremel, you can change out the adapter to a "christmas tree" style file and shape the oil return ports and whatever else that needs to be modified. just stay away from the cylinder seal.
