how much oil into a gsr?
It's 4 quarts. Best way is to add 3.5 and then just keep adding until you've reached the second dot on the dipstick. Once you get there, then that's exactly how much oil your car needs. Just do this on a level surface.
Wow, lots of wrong answers.
According to the manual, it's 4.2 quarts (4.0 liters), including the filter.

Technically, you're correct. As a practical matter, it's best to fill it so that it's at the top dot. That way, you can consume some oil and still be okay until the next time you check it.

yah.. you can't just put in a certain amount and it be perfect. you want to start out with 4quarts, start the car up and let it circulate through the motor and filter. Shut it off, let it cool and fill it to the top dot. oh and.. make sure you're on a flat surface - i made that mistake a time or 2

No. 1/2 way between the two dots means you are 1/2 a quart low on oil. The first dot means you are 1 quart low. You want to be at the second dot and you defintely to not want to be at the first or between the two if you are running the car hard. If you are just putting around then it would be ok to be between them, but you still want to get more oil in there as soon as you have the chance.
