Default headlight temp, TL/MDX...help please

my g/f is wanting to get some HIDs for her 2007 mazda3. she likes the look of the acura TL/MDX, specifically the bluish/purplish tint they show at some angles. her car is already equiped with halogen projectors...what temp should i get? 8k, 10k or 12k? ...heres some pics that the seller is claiming...

The MDX headlights aren't HID's. The RL/TL/TSX have the HID's. If you buy OEM headlights you're looking at $120+ a piece.

im not looking to buy OEM acura headlights...im asking "if im buying an aftermarket HID kit for a car equiped w/ projectors, which temp should i get to best match the color tint the TL puts off?"

Ok sorry, 8k or 10k would be closest matched.

oem would be 4300k, so 6000k would be the closest

4300 Has the most usable light (what you SHOULD) be interested in.

very true.. the class of HID (the number colour etc) is actually the temperature in kalvin and believe it or not, brightness and temperature work backwards, the lower the temperature the brighter it is. I personally have 3000k in my car, there very yellow/greenish, there great in the fog, im going to pick up a set of 4300k bulbs for them because i have a feeling i will be hassled by law enforcement very soon.

4300k is what you will need.

thanks for the replies. as far as light output, i know a 4300-6000k would put out much more light, but in her case, she was wanting the "purple at some angles" look. i think we achieved it quite well w/ the 8000ks. heres a pic

LOL

i love people who have NO IDEA what they are talkin about trying to post like they do know what they are talking about

The bluish color you see is only at the top of the cutoff....the reason you see the blue color from a distance is because of the way the headlights are aimed.....you are actually looking into the cutoff, which is why when they hit a bump it looks like the are flashing you and the blue color goes away (well it turns white because it is under the cutoff)

but yes 4100k or 4300k is the OEM temp
