Default coilovers

i was wondering if anyone has purchased those cheap coilovers for like 8.99 on ebay. Im not interested in these but im thinking what if i buy lowering springs and use the sleeves from the cheap coilovers. would this even be a good combination? has anyone tried this before?

I bought a set because one of my other springs broke in half and needed something so I can ride it again. To my suprise the ride is really not all that bad, but when you hit big bumps in the rode it hit's really hard due to the stiff springs and stock shocks. If I upgrade my shocks to something stiffer it would ride a whole lot better.

I don't care what anyone else says about the ebay coilovers, I like mine and they were very, very cheap and have lasted me a year so far with no problems.

The sleeves are good. I expected the sleeves to warp or split, but when I checked up on them last month they were fine. They feel really light and cheap, but I guess they hold up fine even to my bad driving.

You probably won't like the lowering springs/perch combo. I did the same thing with some cut neuspeeds and they were squeaking like hell in my EF.

My friend has the skunk2/tokico blue set up in his 99 Civic. It rides really nice compared to my tein s-tech/kyb gr-2 set up. I want tokico blue's for my ride next. Mines too bouncy.

skunk2 and tokico blue combo is good? compare to what?

just because Stech and stock gr2 is crappy, it doesn't make your friend's stuff a slightly better turd.

By far, yes.

You realize GR-2's are OEM replacements, right? They're designed to be just like stock... Tokico blues are known to blow pretty easily too.

Yes, I know now. It says they are use with cars that aren't dropped too much. It's not that bad, most of my friends ride on stock shocks, slammed, and mine feels like a cadillac compared to there's.

My other friend has a ground control set up on his and its stiff as **** on some sort of aftermarket shocks, maybe koni. Mines alright, just not made for the track. Another friend has skunk 2 lowered like 3.5" with stock shocks. Its so stiff you hit a bump and your head goes through the roof. And he destroys tires.

Oh well.. Good luck though.

ive had my ground controls for a month and i dont regret it. if your not going to use the adjustability get springs youll save money. idid a 4-5in drop in front and 5-6 in the rear which is about the lowest you can go on stock shocks without breakin stuff. im going up a in in the front and back so i can get the car aligned and have a warranty(no one will warranty u if your too low).

as for shocks the guy at the alignment shop explained to me how they work and im going with the shortened body koni as soon as i can find a koni dealer in GA. the shock being shortened gives you a better ride and maximizes the ability of the shock on a lowered car.

oh and know this, you WILL need a camber kit in the front. i paid to get the readings on my car today. im right at the tire in the front and the rear(no gap, slightly tuckn the front) and -2.8 camber. acster and toe were also out of spec.rear was not as bad thanv to the washer trick.toe and thrust angle for the raer can adjusted w/out special kits n blah blah blah

i decided to probably get ground control colovers and tokico illumina adjustable shocks. i have had coilovers before on my civic which were arrospeed and had stock shocks. this was the most shittiest coilover set i hae ever had. these came with the car but i would never recomend these to annyone. these coilovers had to constantly be readjusted cause they went out of place all the time.
