Default Mini Me or entire motor swap

I just bought a 1990 civic lx, the motor is a D15b2. The head is bad though. I also have a d16y5 and trans from a 97 hx. I was wondering if I should do a mini me swap or swap every thing?Would a p28 ecu be the right one to use? And If I do the mini me can I swap the Trans anyway?

The 97 tranny is a hydro tranny and the 88-91 cars are a cable clutch. You can do mini-me swap but what is wrong with using your current tranny?

Shifting is very sloppy. I would like to boost it in the near future and I dont know if the old trans will hold up

shifting is sloppy? usually the shifter bushing is the cause of this..as long as the tranny not grinding or acting abnormally leave it be. your tranny can handle boost no problem,,clutch is another story

i wouldn't do a minime with that bottomend...they have weak rods....just go for a complete D16z6 or a D16y8 with a D16a6 tranny...

Couldn't I just put a y8 head on the y5 bottom end? I already have the y5 motor and trans due to a roll over.

any d-series head will swap onto a d-series bottom. so a Y8 head would fit on a Y5 bottom Fo SHo.

Correct me if im wrong but the y5 head is the econnomy version, the lobes on the cams are not as aggressive of those on the y8, so swapping heads will provide more power.
