How are PIAA extreme white bulbs
Hi,
I am thinking of putting the extreme white bulbs (PIAA) available from tirerack.
for a 94 integra, LS
http://www.tirerack.com/access...e.jsp
Has any one put those on ? if yes, what is the review on these bulbs ? any issues with the power consumption or heat or wiring damage problems.
Just want to check before i order those
Thanks in advance.

I have those bulbs on my DB8 right now. They're pretty good. They are way better than stock bulbs. But if I were you, I'd save up for an HID kit. That's what im gonna do. But if you dont wanna spend too much, I recommend these bulbs.
in my opinion, and experience, PIAA bulbs and any other 'extra bright' 'super white' 'extra output' bulbs are a scam. they do not truly give you more real light output. they may change the color of the light to make it look whiter/etc but they do not truly give you better visibility on the road.
i would highly recommend the Phillips Vision Plus. they didn't used to be avail at local stores but some are beginning to carry them. if not you can find them on line. these bulbs use real tested technology to improve the light on the road. and they won't cost NEAR what those PIAAs or others will run you.

in my opinion the only way to go concerning increasing light output is true HID's..... tinted bulbs are cheap, don't last long, and usually decrease vision in wet weather at night

HID kits are easy to install. No modifications are required. They are plug-n-play.

I don't know what color output you're talking about, but they're still a bright white. Not nearly as white as the Sylvania's, but not too far off either.
Either way, color output means **** when it comes to lumen output.

EXACTLY!! color is preference, lumen (actual usable light) output is what really matters. these HIR's, i've never heard of, do they actually give improved lumen output?
the sylvania silver stars, while one of the better looking bulbs, do not produce add'l lumens as far as i know.
EDIT: nice little write up i just ran across in looking up HIRs

I had a set of HIRs and they look like OEM bulbs in terms of color output. Yes, color means nothing in terms of light output, but I just wanted to put it out there that the HIR's do not look very nice in terms of color.
The OP was asking about Extreme White PIAA's, so I figured he wanted a non-yellowish/OEM bulb color

Just to reitterate what a few people have said already, just save up and get a set of HIDs. I bought a McCollough 6000k HID's and i love them to death. They took less than 5 minutes to install and after having them, i wont go back to conventional filament bulbs on my car. They are more expensive, but more than worth it. For my set, i paid $255 shipped IIRC.
HID kits are a gamble. Our stock projectors weren't intended for HID use, so sometimes the kit might work well, other times it won't. You'd have to get your headlamps retrofitted to ensure that they work as intended. And I think that's a bit more expensive...unless you DIY.
you could even try doing a 9005 conversion.....found it on TI.net...
im using sylvania silverstar 9005 in the low beam socket, they work great as well
ill get the link if you wanna check it out.....cheap and brighter then stock!
