motor needs new rings
I might be getting a b18a1 from a friend for almost nothing. All it needs is new rings. My question is, what causing rings to go bad? Do they go bad just because wear and tear or does something else help make them go bad? Also, after I change them what else should I change at the same time (i.e. gaskets...ect.) Thanks
one thing i am sure. When you push you car without a good warm up you burn your rings more quickly. It is because you dont let it them seat after a while without moving. I guess after all car are not so different then humans(we also need a good warm up before physical activities^^.)
Also try not to rebuilt it too much. might not end up that worth it. Changing the main gasket(between the head and the short block), the rings and cleaning the carb deposits is your best bet. Also a new timing belt and pump would be good since the motor is out already.
