TrAnny oi??
i've always heard good things about the honda MTF. so much so that F-body guys were using it in their 6spd Z28s and WS6s.
the synchromesh (get the pennzoil packaged stuff cheaper at autozone, don't go GM dealer route) is good as well but i'm not sure i'd run it 100%. it makes a good partial additive to help if you experiencing shifting issues, etc

You can use 10w-30 motor oil in a pinch but its best to get MTL fluid from the Acura dealer. Get 3 quarts because the tranny holds 2.3 quarts. Also, make sure you get the MTL fluid with the white caps. I just bought some the other day and noticed that when they gave it to me, 2 of the bottles had black caps and after checking them out, the white capped bottles were a newer formula so I insisted on getting 2 more bottles of the white capped bottles. BTW JDMxDB8, this is for a manual trans right? Auto trans use different fluid.
One last thing. Its important to change the tranny fluid reguarly because it doesn't have a filter to trap the metal particulates that float around in the fluid. Those particulates are floating through your tranny.

People say syncromesh if you have slight grinds but all it does is mask the the sound, doesn't solve the problem.</TD></TR></TABLE>
the smart idea is to put synchromesh before your tranny grinds...
On some grinding tranny's it extends life a little longer because its a much better lubricant overall

I use 10W-30 as well when I'm in a pinch for time and need to get the car running. I usually try to stock several quarts at a time of Honda MTF to rebuild transmissions with and for any time a transmission has to be removed, but sometimes you just can't keep up.
The older Honda MTF bottles have red caps and the new formula has a white cap. FYI.

I don't know.....the Honda MTF we get at our dealership has changed label colors, designs and cap colors on the regular!
Our latest does have a white cap with a green label.

well just went out to acura was about6 dollars a bottle white cap. says its a newer forumla so ima go with it. see what happens. thanks again for all your help.
GM syncromesh isn't recommended unless you're going to be racing your car on the weekends. The operating heat range is higher than standard Acura MTF. Your trans might grind more unless you do use a friction modifier. If you don't race your car, I recommend standard Acura MTF. I just replaced my fluid and my shifts feel silky smooth.
