Default Garrett turbo with 70 miles is SHOT!

So i purchased a t3/t04e 57 trim, .63ar turbo from vsracing.net, and viren is a great guy btw, but i just got to installing my turbo, and i noticed a problem right away. The car doesn't make any boost and just makes a loud woooooooooo sound. It reminds me of a whale or some ****. I took the turbo off and noticed the compressor wheel didn't want to move, it was pretty much stuck. If i turned it really hard it would spin, but then it would catch. I took off the compressor housing and noticed the wheel was shot. It looks as if though the wheel was hitting the compressor housing and rounded off all of the fins.

I thought it was something on my part with not tightening down the bolts after clocking the turbo, but all of them were torqued down. I don't know what happened and i truly think this is a manufacturer defect and not my fault. What can i do about getting a new turbo or getting this one rebuilt? I sent a pm to Viren at vsracing but i have no response yet.

$550 down the drain

You should have waited to hear back from Viren. Take your feed line off. Make sure there is nothing clogging it. What size lines were you running?

I'm pretty positive it is getting oil, i just barely loosened the feed line and oil began pouring out. I installed another turbo that my friend had laying around so i can drive my car, and it is still working fine after 2 days

Hey Aaron, i talked to Matt and he told me about this.....that really sucks. I can't believe something like this could have happened, especially after what happened at DB.

did you prime your car to get oil pumping into it, before you started the car?

Was it almost like a loud whining sound ? I remember we had a customer with a knock off turbo, basically the fins were running against the housing. I know its a knock of turbo, but just something to think about.
