this is something that is much debated and your are not going to get a difinitive answer.

Really its up to personal preference, and where you live.

For example, I live in FLA where it gets mad hot in the summer. I run 20W-50 in the summer and 10w-30 in the winter. I like mobil 1 oil personally.

I am currently running SuperTech (yes, Wal-Mart) 10w-30 cheapo oil in my turbo GSR motor.

Motor runs great, hasn't burnt a drop

You will only find opinions about oil. I used/use Castrol GTX 10w40. Change the oil and filter after a day or two of racing

Well you have to look where the oil is made, the O'reilly's autoparts oil is made by valvoline, and is basically the same as valvoline, but is half the price. I discovered that when I was at school in NE, and O'reilly's was the only local parts store.

Love the AMSOIL. It's pricey but worth every penny.

syntehtic is not overrated and simply superior to conventional oils when you put it to the test. theres a reason convetional oils are limited to certain weights. you can't get 5w40 or 5w50 in convetional or 10w60. it just won't work. you can extend service interval with synthetic as well and switch back and forth from convetional to synthetic.

right now i use 5w40 during winter and 15w50 or 20w50 during summer. depending on temps i might even end up using 60 weight (multi visc. that is)

I have a account with them. It was the only thing that would get my 6.0L diesel to run right. It had the VGT turbo on it. Then we traded it in on a 06 STi and it don't use any oil like most people complain about. My dart build has lived on it for more than half of it's life (4+years DD).

Amsoil fan here... Dropped my oil temps by 10 deg C switching from conventional stuff. Car also starts easier in the cold, and no joke, the turbo even spools faster with the Amsoil. I am using the Part # AMO (10W-40) for summer.
