Intake Manifold Gasket
First I would like to thank those who help me find the problem.
I have a vac leak at the intake manifold gasket. I removed the iacv and it looks clean. The tb is not blocked or dirty.
When I took it for a diagnosis they wanted to charge me $450. At this point I decided I wanted to at least try to do this myself since I can not afford this.
I searched this site and can not find a how to on replacing this gasket.
This is the only site I found. http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...t.php
I have not attempted this before and I also wanted to know what you guys "Pros" think about it. I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.
ALL OPINIONS are welcomed!

First, if you are going to be doing this kind of work, you should buy a repair manual for the car. Don't expect to find the information on a website for free. I always have repair manuals for all the vehicles I own.
Its not that hard to do, but how do you know that is the problem? Did you put a different intake manifold on the car or do some kind of work to it to cause this problem? Usually the intake manifold gasket doesn't start to leak all on its own.

How did they diagnose that as the problem? If I was trouble-shooting that, I'd use carb cleaner sprayed at the manifold to head interface. If you spray it and the idle changes, then the gasket is leaking.
I had a mechanic diagnosis it. He told me it was the intake gasket.
I am no expert so I was relying on his knowledge. I asked in here yesterday and was advised to check the TB and IACV which both were fine.
I have the manual to my 94 Civic DX and personally did not find it that helpful for this situation.
Thanks for your replies

Hayes manuals are okay....but for Honda's you should invest in a HELMS manual. Much more descriptive and tons more information. I have found Hayes manuals to lack a lot of fine details and left me in a jam too many times.

This is so try. Haynes tell you how to look for a problem but never take you to a point that you solve it..

Like NextGear Don says, take your time, mark all the hoses/lines to where they go and you're set. I never did it before and it took me only a few hours to figure it out. Just have a can of gasket remover handy.
I had to do this on my GSR which was hard due to the shape of the damn thing. All it is, is a bolt on with sensors and vacuum hoses. Take a white marker or red and label the hoses like with a symbol or something or do color labels if you can. Remove intake piping. Disconnect sensors which I believe are TPS, MAP, IAT, IACV(Correct me if theres more). Start to remove hoses. At this point the manifold is bare. Start at removing the 12MM bolts surrounding it. I believe its like 6 up top and 4 down low. Something of the sort. Take a flat head screwdriver and ease the manifold off. This point you should be able to see the ports and the gasket should be broken/damaged. Take some gasket remover spray and soak it. I also used a razor blade to remove little pieces. Clean it real nice. Do the same with the Intake Manifold. Place the new gasket and do the steps backwards starting with placing the intake manifold back on. This is a simple way to look at it. Took me like 2 hours to do it but I wasted a lot of time looking for the nuts I lost when I took them off the intake manifold! Good luck.
