Default Poor Mans Type R Is It Worth It??????

I have a GSR with a bent valve. A friend offered me a b16a head in trade for my gsr head so I could get my car running again. Is that gonna be more power or less power. I wanna eventually boost, so should I do it.

keep your gsr head and have it ported and upgrade your valvetrain

if you're not going to change out your pistons, your compression will drop. b16 head on gsr block would be good if you change out your pistons to either b16 pistons, or itr/ctr pistons.

Fix the GSR and leave the B16A where is it. A "poor man" that does the "poor mans type r" normally spends around the same amount of money as he would had he just bought a type r...

if you're going to go boost then i'd just fix the GSR with upgraded stuff and then while you're in there prepare the block for boost....i know it's more expensive but if you're going to do it anyway might as well do it since everything you need to change/ mod is right there in front of you and easy to get at...not to mention you can save some money by not buying a new set of gaskets again when you go boost. good luck

Assuming you have a B18C1 or B18C with a P72 head (and not a B17A1 with a PR3 head), you're actually going to lose power with the PR3 head unless you re-use the B18C cams and install higher compression pistons (or alternately mill the head, use a thinner head gasket, etc.).

You can get a number of opinions from people telling you to do one thing or the other, but you need to look at:

-what you're going to use the car for
-how much money you're willing to spend now as well as later
-what your ultimate goal is

before you make a decision, or start trading away parts you may want to keep in the long run.

Why do you need more than one of them?

I can tell you right now that the ECU chip is garbage. Spend the money on custom tuning with Crome.
