Anyone turbo a d series motor???
i was thinking about doing a really cheap turbo set up on my weak *** d15 to get a little extra power. just wondering if anyone has ever turboed a d15 and what the results were. would it be worth it? i was thinking that i could make around an extra 40-50 hp....
are you talking about d15b2 dpfi garbage? im sure it can be done but in the end its not gona be worht it cause there is only 2 injectors that cant deliever enough fuel required for the boost.

i say just do it. those motors are free. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Do it, you will benifit from an MPFI swap, you can make an HMT kit for probably $500 or less and easily make some decent power...I believe hose bottom ends have really weak rods so if you want it to last spend some money on fuel management, get a 90-91 pm6 when you go MPFI and chip it and have someone tune when you go boost...I say HF mani w;' adapter plate and slap a T25 or a 14b on it and grab a side mount IC from a junkyard some DSM 390 should be plenty or the 450s would be even better for a little more $, some PVC pipe for IC pipping or some rando Junkyard IC piping off some turbo cars...definately make a decent set-up

how much you think it would be to change over to mpfi? yeah i found a cheap forged manifold on ebay for around $120. thinking about a saab 9000 as the turbo donor car, would the saab's turbo be good to use?

that turbo will be perfect, i ran the same on my d15b7, spools pretty quick and pulls good. d15 turbo is fun.
but yeah definately go mpfi, should cost less then $100 if you look in the right places.

i think you should get a vtec head for it, along with a p28, and you can make some sick power stock bottom end.

Lot's of people have done super cheap turbo setups on those motors.
So long as you get some sort of fuel management and don't boost very much, you should be just fine.
With a DPFI though, I don't know what kinda fuel management is available. FMU's suck, but it might be your only option if it's a low buck build.

Yes sir! Search for mini me.
There's a couple good threads in the faq. I would recccommend a D16A6 head, so you don't have to worry about VTEC and converting to OBD1 and all that crap.
