Gear ratios same for Ex and Si?

Gear ratios same for Ex and Si?
I'm in need of a new tranny and engine since the previous owner lied to me about the car when I purchased it.
I've heard different stories and thought I would ask you guys. Are the 1992-1995 Civic Si and 1992-1995 Civic Ex trannies the same gearing? I know the engines are the same. I need to keep the gearing the same in order to stay in the same autocross class.

yes, same exact transmission. now swap a b16 in there and come play with the big boys in SM....

Not true. The Si uses a .750 fifth gear, while the EX uses a .702 fifth.

where do you come up with that information? my helms (94 civic) states no difference in d16z6 transmission ratios, short of an automatic.
1st 3.250
2nd 1.900
3rd 1.250
4th 0.909
5th 0.702
reverse 3.153
final 4.250

yep, SI hatch uses the .750 5th, as well as the del SLOW si, the rest use .702.

d16z6 si hatch and del sol si = 0.750 5th gear
d16y8 96+ del sol si = 0.702 5th gear

0.702 = 37/26
There is also a misprint in the helms manual listing a 3.8888 final drive for the 3door d15b7 civic dx hatch. 3.8888 is the 89-91 final drive found in the DX/STD transmission. All d15b7 transmissions have a 4.058 final drive.

no offense bense or shard, but where do you guys get that info? i have a helms book, printed 9/93 and it does not list the .750, nor does my pdf manual, printed 9/91.
i do not doubt you bense, as you are the self proclaimed tranny expert. i just don;t understand i cannot find the specs anywhere, yet you have had removed that ratio from a tranny. any chance someone doctored up the tranny you disassembled?

the reason i am questioning this info, is that the original poster needs to run the proper trans for scca classing. if we cannot find anywhere in print, that the si had a different ratio, he will be fine with the current trans he is running. i am only looking out for him.
