low rpm misfire, lack of power???? help please
So my car starts misfiring at idle, and i barely notice it, just small varations in the car's exhaust note, but within a week of me noticing the random drops in rpm while idling, the car starts to sputter in low rpms in every gear, and stalled once in third and while idling at a light. There is a noticable loss in acceleration/power, and the brakes feel sloppy as well, with more pedal travel required to come to a stop. In addition, the ac blows harder and the headlights shine brighter when at 3k rpms then they do at idle; when you let off the gas, you can see the lights dim.
I've experienced the idle/misfire problem before, it was due to a dirty fuel filter, which i replaced, and the car ran fine. So i've already replaced the fuel filter this time, with no luck. Could it possibly be the fuel pump? The motor has 160k on it, with the distributer replaced at 110k...Any help would be welcome, this is driving me nuts.
And yes, i've searched.
EDIT: There are no misfires at idle when the engine is cold; there is still the lack of power, but the engine does not misfire. In addition, the engine only seems to misfire under 3k rpms, no matter what gear you are in.

OBDII would have helped you with misfire detection. Try the compression check as it is cheap, easy, and informative. Also, look at the spark plugs when you pull them.

Convert to OBDII and pull the codes so we can better diagnose the problem.
Seriously, get a diagram of all your grounds, clean them all up, and make sure they're all nice and secure.
