i am due up for a block swap before boost. has anyone ever removed a block without removing the tranny? would save alot of time and i would like to know if its possible or if it would be a waste of time. i would like to not have to remove axles, linkage and tranny mounts.

Yeah. Back when I first started in the honda scene, I pulled my d16 out of my EF hatch and left the transaxle in. All you have to do is loosen the tranny mount bolts a little so you can pull the motor. IMO I have since pulled dozens of motors. Pulling the transaxle with the motor is my favorite, but that is because I also LOVE to clean the **** out both while they are out.

how much will the tranny shift? i am concerned about the input shaft being too long before it comes out of the clutch
i have done many swaps as well, but i always pull it everything.
