Technically it's not an EK, but it's the same body (assuming it's a hatch)

True. That whole chassi (96-00) is generally referred to as an EK. Whatever works for you.

Technically it's neither, but the 96-98 models are generally referred to as EK's, 92-95's are generally referred to as EG's, and the 99/00 Si's are generally referred to EM1's.

That doesn't make sense. You're telling him it's not an EK, when you said 96-98 Honda Civics are generall called EKs when he has a 96.. Hmm.

Again, generally any 96-00 is referred to as an EK as a broad term. To get specific, a coupe is an EJ, a hatch is an EK; I'm not sure about ferios. 99-00 Si modles are typically called EM1 because of the motor that the car comes stock with.

It makes perfect ******* sense.

You know exactly what the expletive I meant but for some ungodly reason you feel it's necessary to be an ******* about everything.

At OP:
In general, 96-98 civics are referred to as EKs in general, regardless of their actual chassis code.

I'll just leave it at that.

Care to get that sand out of ****? You seem to be getting butt hurt over nothing.

Let's analyze this again, mmkay?

The OP has a 1996 Honda Civic coupe. Specifically, 92-00 coupes with the exception of the 99-00 Si is referred to as an 'EJ'. Generally 96-00 Civics are referred to as 'EK', however this is a broad term. You're saying it's neither an EJ or an EK, so what is it than if it's a 1996 coupe? You said it can't be an EJ or an EK? Care to explain?

Not at all. What Syndacate posted doesn't make any sense. I want to make sure he understands what he's talking about so he doesn't give others misinformation.

EJ. I'm not sure specifically what the last number is. For example, my 1994 Honda Civic EX coupe is an EJ1. 96-00 EX coupes are EJ8. It will say in your VIN number what your car is.
