i was hooking up my oil gauges to power and the lights stopped working on the cluster, theres no beeping when u turn th lights on without a key either. When the ignition goes on everything works but the background lights. Checked fuses but seem fine, any ideas?

When you were routing your own wiring and such around, did you happen to pull a main plug out? Do the actual instruments work? I mean do you have fuel/temp/tach/speed-o functions? I'd look into the plugs on the back of the cluster. Also, is it just the instrument panel that is not lighting or are your heater controls/radio not lighting up either? Check any fuses relating to the instrument panel with a fine tooth comb.

it was the fuse as well as a shorting wire that kept blowing it
