If the motor has some minor boltons, will getting adjustable cam-gears, and then advancing them, give you decent gains or not?

What the hell do you expect it to do with a stock cam? You'll get more torque earlier at the expense of high end hp - not that there's much there to begin with - but that's no different than any other engine configuration.

Mechanical advance/retard doesn't add free power on anything unless you're changing other parts. It reshapes the existing powerband, nothing more. Your non-VTEC d-series sucks. Don't bother with boltons unless one of them's a turbo.

d-series are basically only good for boost as far as power goes. like if u build a d series then hopefully ur boosting it, if not than ur kind of throwing money away, or throwing money away to be different. u might want to research a bit though about what ur planing on doing. completely different ball park then ur comaro. and not all 4cylinders are gay.

doesnt take an arm and leg to boost a honda . lots of factory stuff works like mitsubishi stuff . go to homemadeturbo.com or search on here . i boost a 92 cx for about 524.33 and thats with tax . it was decent , kicked alot of 305 ***

 

what?? 523$??? Dude that would be awesome! But ****.. i dont know what kinda turbo's this thing works with.. how to route the intercooler system/turbo, ecu etc. I used to have a diesel buddy that would all this for the price of a drive in it and beer, but we have since been taking each other to court over a previous car.

 

seriously just search around , buy used , AND MOST importantly just research . Im sure you can find a thread on how to boost cheaply . I had a buddy of mine help with mine . plus i got a few hook ups on the parts . you can save on an intercooler by not buying one , i was going to use PVC pipe for the IC piping but a local had some used so i got it from him for basically free . I had to install a fuel pump in his hatch (this guys was an idiot ) . but anyways just research , i did and am glad i did . i recently sold the car for 4 times what I paid for it cause it was turboed . i got 3200 for it paid 800 for it and it ran .just beat up a little

If you'd stop spending money on intakes and headers and fuel pressure regulators and Edelbrock high-performance intake manifolds, you could probably save up enough to put together a turbo kit in a month. It's really cheap and easy. A turbo isn't magical - it's just a fan that pushes air with the help of exhaust gasses.
