Default PCV valve issues..questions

so i went and got a PCV valve from checker. It wasnt the correct valve, but looked close. I have a 1996 civic ex d16y8.

All the sudden my Idle is acting up. It will idle fine after a few seconds.

after comming to a stop, it will go from 700rpms to 2000rpms a few times then settle. It does this every time now.

Is this pcv valve really not doing its job? i thought they were mostly universal? looks exactly the same

good question. I would like to know myself looking to replace PCV myself. Would like to buy it from HONDA just to know it's the real thing so no probalems but too damn much for parts and a oil change place told me they can change it but for $80+ bucks I think. Rather do it myself don't seem hard( I think) but good question.

yea its easy to swap out, but finding the correct one for the d16y8 is hard, dealershit wants about $30, wallmart wants $3 but never has any in stock.

Checker always orders the wrong ones. So i picked up one with the same size, and shape, however it was a different color. Now my idle is messed up. this is so wierd how touchy **** can be. Its only a check valve, they all do the same thing!!!

If I had to go to an auto part I usally go to Advance auto parts instead because they usally have better parts IMO I just trust them more. I think they carry more well know brands in terms last longer then other generic ones.?

I got a tune up for my sister's 97 ex. they said they didnt have the pcv valve in stock. It's not the same for the regular non vtec d16. That's what they said, not sure if its true.

sad to say got the OEM pcv valve, ran the same. so i guess as long as it looks identical to yours, it works. tested both, both work the same.
