Steps to take after hydrolocking a motor???
Few weeks ago i hydro locked my b18c in my eg.
I shut the car off as i was going thru a big puddle.. didnt suck up much water but when i started it, the water that was in there bent rod 1 and 4.... It didnt run at all with the water in there.. just kinda turned over just a few times.. thats it... so it never ran with water in the motor...
Heres the steps i have taken.
Head to machine shop, it pressured checked good and all valves and seats are good. no issues there.
new pistons
new rods
new rod bearings.
Block checks out good along with crank. Going to do a very light hone before i put the new pistons in.
Do i have to do anything with the intake manifold, there was about a half gallon of water in it.. its dry by now, but anything i have to do with the sensors or anything??? I tried starting the car with water in there.. what will that affect sensor wise.. Anything?? IM putting in the new engine parts this week and want to make sure i dont run across any issues.....
Thanks for the help.
Heres a pic of some damage. you can see how the pistons sit a tad low in the block. ahaha

Number 1 rod. ahaha... Number 4 you couldnt even see it was bent, but it was way off... caused the compression to be about 150 in that cylinder.

Water should not hurt anything. All of it is dry by now.
Great pics, nice rod/pretzel too. That is one for the trophy shelf.

is 150 compression really that bad? when i did a compression test, all my cylinders read like 170 or 160 all the way across... maybe i did the test wrong?

Theres only one or two ways to do it.. Screw it into the cylinder.. Pull the ecu fuse or unplug the dizzy.. Crank the car untill the compression tester reaches it's max psi then go to the next cylinder.

Dude you took all the right steps to getting the motor back together. If the intake manifold is completely dry then you should be fine. As for sensors only thing you could do is start the car and see for codes. Theres some sensors (water temps) that you could put into boiling water to see if it gets the correct resistance but its better to have it in the ecu.
Another thing i would do is change out all your hoses and check valves or clean them off really good.

too late now but in the future if you pull the spark plugs out and crank over the motor, it will shoot out the water out of the spark plug holes.
