Default Bad CV joint???

Ok so I jacked my car up just now to change my oil and I noticed my passenger side CV boot is torn(it looks like it ripped clean all the way around and is not connected at all). There is grease all over my rim on the inside as you would imagine. I don't notice any shaking when driving. I don't hear any clicking either... could the boot just need replacing? or do I need a new axle?

Any help is appreciated.

Well im broke right now because I just ordered my suspension and I wondered If i could get away with just the boot for now since it drives fine.

How long would I be ok driving with the boot torn also?

you can run with broken axel for awhile. your axel isnt going to fall apart or anything. if your tight on money and dont see any direct signs its bad, replace the boot and fix it when you get the money. you will defnitally know when an axel is bad or goes bad

ride it out until the cv joint goes out. when that happens then replace it.

there is no telling how long it will take. how much driving and weather conditions play a major factor on how long it will take.

i have had some go out right away, then there has been times where it has taken about 6 months to go out. it all depends.

pip-A guy in the northeast said he would do it for me at his shop for 40 bucks, and it would only take 30 minutes
