Hey guys, Im new to the site but I love it. There's tons of good info on here. Anyway, I have an '02 RSX S and I am going to spray it with a ZEX kit while I build a K24 block for boost. The motor currently has 103k miles on it...Is a 75 shot on a ZEX kit safe as long as I get colder plugs? I was thinking that I could run the fuel pill for a 100 shot just to be safe. Do you guys see anything wrong with a 75 shot on a k20 with 103k on it?

 

Hell no my cousin Edy runs that set up with the original set jet and its all good. That motor will hold up real nice.

 

Just make sure you get a ZEX kit compatible with a returnless constant pressure fuel system. The standard ZEX kit that raises fuel pressure for fuel compensation will give you an engine light.

I think I still might use the fuel pill for a 100 shot...Im really weird about my motor lol but I want good power out of it with out putting to much stress on it. And what's the difference in the 2 kinds of nitrous kits that you're talking about...? I was going to find a good deal on a used ZEX dry kit and use it...is there any way to convert the regular ZEX kit to where it won't throw a code and to where it will still work properly and raise fuel pressure the right amount?

 

No...there isn't. The ecu has a fuel pressure sensor that it monitors, if fuel pressure changes you get a code. You need to use a fogger style zex kit. One that uses a fogger nozzle that combines the nitrous and fuel directly at the nozzle.

I personally prefer NX kits because their solenoids are known for being the most reliable. Dry kits are good because they have kind of a fail safe design. If the nitrous flows, the fuel pressure rises, plus you have a fuel pressure safety cutoff switch. With the foggers there is slightly more risk. If the fuel or nitrous solenoid fails, you could get intake backfires or a lean condition. That's why I would use the company with the most reliable solenoids...and that'd be NX.

 

I really want to go with ZEX b/c I have friends running them and they love them. I've road in with them and helped install the kits and I personally love them as well. I think ZEX has the best customer service too. But anyway, will I only get a CEL when spraying? If so, does it hurt anything? I don't really mind a CEL coming on as long as it's only when Im actually spraying and as long as the kit will still increase pressure the way it's supposed to.

 

Dude, you definitely don't want engine lights coming on while your spraying. Putting a K into limp takes away the variable cam timing, vtec, and everything. ZEX makes a fogger kit, you just have to buy that. You can't use this used dry kit that you've been talking about is all I'm saying.

Since you mentioned ZEX's customer service, you should give them a call and tell them the vehicle you have. They'll tell you the kit you need.

 

When you do setup your kit, don't use the 100 shot fuel jet with a 75 n2o jet, it'll run way to rich. N20 companies do there research. If they select a certain size jet for that application, it's usually on the safer side. My guess is that you'll run afr's in the 10.8-11.2 range using the recommended jet sizes.
