I still haven't got a straigh answer to what pick one is, but i haven't researched to hard yet but I believe it may be for A/C, it would rais the throttle when you engage the A/C compressor...but i have also heard it is used for cold idle...
the second pic is the IAT...the knock sensor is found right around the oil filter on the back for the block, similar location to the OBD0 fan switch sensor

I'm still curious about pic1...correct me if I'm wrong but there is only 1 vac port coming off of it that goes to the intake, pre-throttle body...there is a check valve for it in the vac line but there is no other connections, other than the one to the throttle lever? just curious how it works...
my old a6 also had the same type of device on it, yet no USDM CRXs had C/C...thats why i concluded either A/C or cold idle....

one side of pic 1 goes to the intake tube , the difference in vacuum when the throttle is closed keeps the throttle plate in the tb from slamming shut. it just closes slower. I don't think this system did much good or worked all that well because it was deleted on obd1+ motors . it is safe to say ditch it
it has nothing to do with ac or cruise control
