distributor does not spin freely??
i bought a crx si dist from someone on the forum and when i got it i went to rotate it to line it up with the cam groove and i noticed its real hard to turn.. it almost locks up at one point.. what is wrong with it? the rotor looks fine and all
pretty much means it's no good, my old distributor was just like that and the tach would jump all over the place and stutter over 3k rpm and at times randomly shut off..
The bearing inside the distributor is partly seized. Can be replaced with a new one. they are like 12.00 dollars from a bearing store. Just take the old one out and bring with you, there are numbers stamped on the bearing that signal it's size. very common bearing, though. The trouble is getting it out. there are tamper resistant torx screws that need to come out. Then the sensor wheels need to be pressed of. Not hard just time consuming to do when it is your first one.
try to return it to seller if you can if you don't want to try to fix it. If you want to send to me i will replace bearing for 20.00 plus price of part.
good luck, colnago
