Default How long should you wait after repaint before waxing?

I know this was posted before, but I couldn't find the post from a week or so ago. I get my car back today from a wreck, and the bodyshop guy said to wait 60 days before waxing. Does this sound right or a bit long to be waiting?

A friend of mine that paints cars recommends 30 at a bare minimum. The longer you wait, the longer the paint can cure.

At least 30 days, preferably 60.

It depends on the painting method, if it was in a very high heat spray both and the cook time was extensive then you can paint with in a week but other then that kind of situation then wait for the reccommened 60 days like the guy said (cause he aint got that both)....

Just trust what the expert (body shop painter) told you. We can all give you different answers but he knows what type of paint system he is using and he knows what the manufacturer recommends.

What is weird is that Spies-Hecker (paint for german cars, primarily) recommends against EVER waxing the paint!

Default At least 60...

...but the longer the better. I waited 90.

Also, don't let it cook outside. It should be garaged for that duration.

Also, I recommend using GLAZE the first time, not wax. Mother's make a badass glaze. Then use good WAX the next time (i.e. glaze the first time instead of waxing, then wax a few months after that).

This is all my uncle's recommendation, who owns a shop and has been painting and restoring care for 35 years. He's won many trophies for his muscle car paint jobs, so I trusted him to do eht repaint on my car.

I got 10 coats of PPG Concept 2000 poly enamel, buffed between coats. Damn good stuff, and it looks killer even after 2 years!
