Default has anyone tried a step-header

just wondering, if anyone has tried a step-header design for their turbo manifold. like stepping down from 1 1/2 or whatever to 1 3/8. anyways, i just through those numbers out there, but you get the idea. using a bigger diamter right out of the head for like the first bend, then stepping down to like an 1/8 smaller diameter for the rest of the manifold. dont be harsh, just something i was wondering if people were doing or have tried.

the way the b16 head is, its so wide down in the port, compared to the exit of the port. its sort of like a double barrel shotgun appreance in a way if you wanna look at it that way.

With a turbo manifold, I'd almost expect you to want the reverse, larger runners after the first bend. Its one method to curb reversion. The larger->smaller method would mostly increase veolocity & backpressure and decrease flow. On turbo manifolds less runner volume doesn't really affect spool time much, not to the extent people think.

i started thinking about this, and i think on the intake you would like tapered towards the head, but on the exhaust, like mentioned above, if anything you wanna step the diameter up. i think the intake is a lot more important than the exhaust. the exhaust, the only goal is to get that **** outta there as quick as possible. of course, equal length will be put into consideration. my intake will be tapered, and have circle to oval runners with v-stacks in the plenum. the plenum will also be tapered.
