December 7, 2006 - Honda has announced that it will be unveiling a new Honda Accord Coupe concept at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. This will be Honda's first-ever time unveiling its bread-and-butter vehicle at the Motor City's premiere motor show.

Honda was just warming up when it unveiled three all-new concepts at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. We're kind of pissed that we didn't get to see this bad-*** sports coupe in our own backyard. While the current Accord sedan and coupe is pretty mild, the Accord Coupe concept shown here looks positively wild.

Honda released this sketch of the car, and it looks as if Honda wants to position the Accord coupe against the Infiniti G35 or BMW's 3-series. The canopy of the Accord Coupe concept looks G35-ish, while the doors and flush rocker panels look like those off the latest 3-series coupe. The low, hunkered-down stance and fat rear end tell us that this concept was designed with performance in mind, and the dual/four-tipped exhaust tells us that this concept will likely be powered by a V6. Our imaginations hope that this Accord gets Honda's Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system.

Honda is saying that this concept coupe will be representative of the next-gen Accord. Will the Accord lose its "appliance-like" personality and turn into a proper, fun-to-drive "driver's car"? We'll find out more in January.

hahahahaha like an accord will ever look like that. I would expect them to go crazy with the Acura line... not the Honda economy line.
