Default Attempted my first manifold.

I gotta hand it to the guys building intricate tubular manifolds and ****. This is just a shitty log manifold and it wasnt as easy as i thought it was going to be. anyway here are a couple shots.
Its not finished yet, i still have to weld the inside of the turbo flange and clean it up. Any tips would be appreciated.

Pretty nice....only thing I'd like better is taking the t's and els to the wire wheel. It makes the welds look better and doesn't look so burnt. What did you use to cut the hole for the turbo flange?

I would also turn the heat down a tad, maybe that's just me.

I used a plasma. Then spent 15 minutes with a die grinder cleaning all the crap out of the runners . is there a better way?

plasma is fast but its hard to get all the slag out from inside the pipes

if i'm doing a log i always use a cut off wheel to cut the hole. takes a bit longer but i don't have to do any cleaning or grinding

i think it would be best to cut the hole before the pipes are together , that is, if you have your **** on point, and you know what needs to happen.

plasma is definitely a pain in the *** because of the slag....I ditched that after the first one I did that way. I use cutoff wheel as well at this point, and it isn't too bad. Now if I could just cut wastegate holes easier.....takes too long.

I second that. The welds are very nice, but just a bit too much heat into the work.
It could also be your choice of filler size. 3/32 would have cooled the area a little more, and had less of a concave appearance to the weld bead.
Still impressive. Very consistant bead. Steady hands.

Must've been one trashy bunch of cutoff wheels. I just go slow...only eats up about half of a new wheel. It really isn't too bad at all. It's better than the plasma in my opinion.

he's not talking about cfm, he has a regulator after the bottle that brings it down to 18psi into the miller.. not a flowmeter saying 18cfm

Yep, it's cfh, and it is regulating the flow of the gas, not the pressure.
