Default headlight bulb out

I currently have PIAA super plasma gt-x H4 bulbs and I've had them for about 8 months now. All of a sudden my passenger side bulb doesn't work but it does when the high beams are on. I checked the plug and it had a little corrosion, but not enough in my opinion for it not to work. Does anyone know what's up?

Here's the procedure:

A. Swap the faulty bulb to the driver's side. If it works fine, then it's a wiring/electrical issue. If it still doesn't work, see B.

B. Replace the bulbs with a high-quality set such as Philips Vision Plus or Osram (not Sylvania) SilverStar.

I wouldn't even bother with A though... don't think I've ever seen a set of PIAAs work for more than a year...

The reason I mentioned it was because he stated that the connector had corrosion on it, which could be preventing contact with the low-beam positive lead. In all likelihood though, it's simply a dead bulb.

one Q though... What's the difference between OSRAM and Sylvania.... thought they were the same company?

"OSRAM SYLVANIA is the North American operation of OSRAM GmbH, Germany, one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers, and a member of the Siemens international family of companies.

With regard to the bulbs, the Sylvania SilverStar is the one that is commonly available at auto parts stores in North America. It has a coating that is intended to produce a "whiter" light output. The superior bulb is the European Osram SilverStar, which has no coating. It is not offered for sale in North America, and must be ordered from a European bulb supplier (which is simple and inexpensive).

The Osrams are available from http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk

In a recent test of H4 "+50" bulbs, the Philips Vision Plus was found to perform better. That bulb, as well as the newest Philips X-treme Power can be ordered from http://autolamps-online.com. Autolamps is the company I dealt with when I ordered my Vision Plus bulbs. Ordering is easy, and shipping is free and quite quick.

Thanks for the info guys

I'm going to try the bulb in the other headlight and see if it truly is burnt out or the plug is just corroded too much. If it doesn't work then I'll just throw my factory bulbs in and order some of those osrams which seem to be pretty good.
