Default d16z6 safe to boost? STOCK MOTOR

i got like 145k miles my motor all stock.engine runs like a champ..but it lacks the torque and hp that im used to. i had dohc vtec motors in the past. im tryna stay away from a swap. so do u think if i boost with maybe a greddy 15gkit get it tuned and run 6-8psi it would last as a daily driver for a while. Im not tryna turn turn the car into a full race beast..i just want a lil more power..so give me some opinions thanks

As long as compression and leakdown tests check out (that means, do them), you're good to go.

I really should know this by now, but, running 10psi safely on a z6 requires what? I was thinking MLS head gasket and stronger head studs? or do you have to go with the whole piston/rod overhaul shabang?

You should be able to run 10 with a great tune arp head studs and a thicker headgasket would be better!!

because the motor is so old, the sleeves might have warped, or if they havent, they will. thats alot of miles

yea i believe it. ask anothersickhatch, he had a motor built and a hone job didnt fix the fact that his stock sleeves were slightly warped due to stress from mileage.
he had to add a quart of oil like every other day.
but then again, what would you know about built motors?

key part of that being, adding oil daily.

you think if the OP was adding oil daily he would be asking if it was ok to boost his stock motor???

of coarse the sleeves on an open deck motor can distort, but you will know before it happens, and block studs, or a blockguard can HELP to prevent this.
