Problem setting b20vtec timing
I've adjusted my distributor until it can't move any futher and my timing is still off. I had the block decked and the head machined to ensure a good seal. I'm using a OEM head gasket. I have adjustable cam gears (0,0) and crome for tuning (p72 base map). How do I fix the problem?

With the head and block machined, your cam timing is retarded. The proper way to set it is to degree the cams. Failing that, +2, +2 is a good place to start if the block and head have been machined substantially. As to your ignition timing, your Crome map will determine what your ignition timing should be at idle. A basic P72 map calls for 16.5 degrees at idle, but jumps to 20 degrees at 1200 rpm. If your car idles higher than 1,000 rpm your timing will advance accordingly.
