Compression of a stock ITR motor? I may go check a ITR out in NJ
What is the compression of a stock ITR motor supposed to be? I may be going to look at another ITR in NJ and i wanna do a compression test on the engine. Also do you know if we brought it over to an acura dealership if they would check everything out for me for a price. Anyone do this before? Do they put it in writing so if something isn't right or the guy paid them to lie i can go after em?

P.S. Someone post some pics of FBP itr's!

ok cool, would they go thru it and mark down like scratches or body panels that have been repainted or replaced? Like a THUROUGH job? What about a compression test?
Just tell them you want a buyers inspection but you must be specific. Compression test is not a normal inspection item but tell them what you want looked at and they will charge you accordingly. A little money at first may save you a lot later.

There isn't a 'there'. If numbers are consistent, then that's all that matters.
All low consistent numbers = bad gauge, good engine.
All high consistend numbers = good gauge, good engine.
All low inconsistent numbers = bad.
All high inconsistent numbers = bad.
That's the *general* rule I use when doing comp tests.
When it comes to actually DIAGNOSIS after a compression test.. you do a cylinder leak down.
Compression tests are not always acurate. They do not tell you what is wrong with your engine. They do nothing but give you a general *IDEA* of good/bad or ok.
When you do a compression test the engine MUST be at operating temp. Not warm. Not cold. You do it immediately following shutoff.
Throttle open.
All plugs removed.
6 or 8 cranks on each cylinder. Not 6 here, 8 there. The same on each cylinder.
Dry compression tests are worthless and usually innacurate.
I hope this info reaches people in searches.. because this topic has high frequency here.
