Replacing Oil Pan Gasket?
Well I damaged the Oil Pan I will be buying one tommorow but before that I will I need the car to drive today. I removed the Oil Pan. The gasket is still one all I did was bang out the dent and weld a rip within the oil pan. Should I replace the gasket on the oil pan cause its stuck on the pan. I removed little bits and pieces of sealant from top of it. Tried cleaning the gasket pretty well. Now should I remove the gasket or leave it. My trip consists of 80 miles today so Im hoping I dont mess up and let it leak. Any one?
as long as the block is clean and smooth, and the rubber gasket is clean you should have no prob. the torque value of the nuts and bolts that go around the oil pan are 140ftlbs.... just check the oil level when you get there and take some extra oil just incase...
use a lot of gasket maker and the old gasket and make sure not to tighten the gasket to hard. Because it will definately leak if you tighten to hard. a little more than hand tighten is perfect. Im re sing my old gaket and so far i have no leaks.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure
. Yeah, using the old one should be fine if it's not cracked and there is none stuck to the block.

I was gonna say, if it was 120 ft/lbs, then mine are way too loose!

Ahhh this sucks.. Its wierd how I was able to take the oil pan off and it was sitting good except for the tear in the pan. Turns out the pan wont sit on the block cause the bend in the pan is hitting the pump. There goes my trip for today. Well time for a new pan tommorow.
