Burning oil and rice
I have a 1994 acura integra GSR with type R cams in it and an A'pexi air flow controller in it...i do not know if any of these are a factor in the problem that i have but when the car goes into vtec it starts to blow smoke out of the tailpipe. im assuming that the valves are wore out and it cant take the extra oil pressure when the vtec switches on and the valves are open more...any help?
i have the same problem, i thought it was bad rings, but some one on ht told me to look at my cam seal????
i go through a qt of oil every 2-3 weeks, but i also drive my car hard alot and its my daliy driver....

Burning rice.....thats not normal. Have you checked your rice meter because Im pretty sure its showing full. Either way, valves and oil pressure have nothing to do with one another. There is no oil pressure near the valves, thus there is no way for them "not to hold the pressure." Maybe you're thinking vtec is operated by oil pressure and opens the valves further, thus oil pressure has something to do with the valves....but it doesnt.
what i mean with oil pressure is that when you run the engine hard all the oil gets pushed to the top...when that happens it lubricates the top cams and valves and all that and i think its passing in btween the valves and the seals and getting into the cylinder...it starts smokin pretty bad after i hit vtec and the valves are pushed more open...but i do not know...
its not the cam seal LOL...the cams ride right on the aluminum...if you take the valve cover of you will see...its either the valves or valve seals...if you do a compression test and look in your manual you will know if its rings...
