Some bling and new plans for the Spoon car
The car has been down since the last Mid Ohio race in August. #4 rod shot a hole in the block and the car has been sitting in the garage since.....
With the new 07 HC rules, the Spoon R will be repaired and modded based on that, and hopefully be competitive in the restructured H2 class with the swapped hatches.
This is the new replacement block:

Overhauling the tran, a nice header and Hondata are on the list.
Also, now that the H2 rule allows it, I am thinking about adding this to the car (pics borrowed from Josh at itrsport.com):

Along with some homemade splitter and aero parts, probably from J's, to increase the bling factor. Before anyone questions about the "sufficiency" of the stock braking system, I will say that I had tracked on the Spoon calipers for 4 years before getting into racing. So based on personal experience, I like the feel of the Spoon calipers a lot more and would not hesitate to do it again.
Now onto some other bling.
I had some fender bender throughout the years, and the headlight was busted:

But thanks to Leo from Password JDM, he sent me a replacement pair so I can keep blinging. Although they're non-R headlights with the chrome housing, I am not picky:

Then through Expo 6, I met Bjorn from Custom Lightz, and I really appreciate the support they show to our ITR community. Through their sponsorship, here are the additional bling for the race car:

TSX projectors with gunmetal housing!!!

The plug
:

They are not installed yet because the engine is still under the knife. I will put them on as soon as the engine fires up.
The 06 season just ended and I am already excited about 07. I will keep you guys updated. Speaking of which, whoever wants a set of Spoon calipers, please let me know. I will be able to get better pricing if we could get a few sets going.
One last bling, 07 IS350 wife's car

(sorry messy garage)

Nothing wrong with a messy garage...I see nothing bar car related items on that wall.
I would asume that since those headlights are non-ITR that they are a bit less expensive? It would seem logical to go with something a bit cheaper that does the same exact job, no?
Forgive me for not being on the up and up on your engine build, but is this all OEM or can you run a little bit of aftermarket stuff in the H2 class?

Actually I got them for free from Password JDM through our sponsorship program.
When they ship stuff from Japan, often times things like headlights get scratched and customers don't want them. I will take it, because as you said, it still does the same job!

Yeah in H2, the motor needs to stay stock with the max allowable compression of 11.6. So if one gets a JDM motor (11.1), with a thinner HG to raise 0.5, he would be at max already.
If you are interested, here is the link to the 07 rules:

Nice upgrades Wai. Did you get the navigation as well as the upgraded sound system? We were thinking of getting the exact same setup for Brooke a few months ago.

Chris, good choice on the brakes.
Do you run Kosei K1 +38 offset? Does it fit ok over the brakes with no spacer?

Trying to find a used Toda.
I thought of a SMSP or Hytech, but both of them is quite a bit longer than OEM ones. Since I have a titanium exhaust, I don't want to chop it up so I just look for something OEM length.

My car is currently right at minimum weight so I don't plan on CF hood. Canards are not allowed by the rules so another no.
I'll be looking at the GT wing.
Aero parts could be very beneficial.
In this thread, it was mentioned that:

When I asked the crew chief from RealTime Racing about the effect of going from their ITR race cars with the standard body to the body with aero parts such as a real (series spec) rear wing and the front splitter/airdam/undertray, he said it gained them up to about 1.5 seconds per lap depending on the track. They had spent quite some time he said sorting their aero package to optimize it. A gain of 1.5 seconds on an otherwise properly sorted car is very, very significant.
