As the racing year winds down, SVH and I go take the karts out to Dixon for more seat time and practice.
He is piloting his 80 Intrepid and I my 80 Kosmic. The goal for me was to get consistent lap times down, regardless of them being slow or fast (they were slow!). Once I am able to get those times pretty close, then I can start tuning to get better times.
The track was cold, the wind was cold, we were cold. But it was sunny and we weren't at work. I had the fortunate experience of breaking down 2 times while practicing. This gave me a litmus test as to whether or not I had enough gear to repair my kart and get back on the track.
The issues were easy enough to repair. New M8 nylock on the shifter and tighten down the axle sprocket. Aside from that, I was able to get some good times (in my book) down. Having SVH run side by side gave me a feel for track size at a sprint track.
Here are some images taken from a session at Dixon:
Off we go down the straight.

Out of the bank and into the inner field.

Dicing it up in Turn 7 and 8.

Back around to the bank.

The hairpin we go.

Lose the lead out of the hairpin and Turn 7.

Chasing down the Intrepid.

And a clip of live action as well. I was getting passed consistently on the hairpin. I was mixing a defensive line and a racing line that netted very poor momentum and opened the door to SVH.
Happy Holidays.

Hmm, Dixon aka Kinsman right? Kinda by Davis? I haven't been there in about 5 years. I went there once with some karting friends and drove 80 cc shifter. That was so much fun. The track looks awesome now.
