Default Exhaust leak where turbo manifold meets head.

I want to know how to avoid this. I put a brand new gasket and tightened it to what the helms book said and after about 2 weeks it started to leak again. Should i try copper spray???? What do you guys normally do?

Are the manifold bolts backing themselves out? What type of gasket are you using an oem metal gasket? Try a Felpro gasket and use some loctite on the bolts.

ya i no longer have the factory studs. So im using honda bolts. The bolts are not to long. They push the manifold against the block all the way tight. Im using a factory oem metal gasket. I heard some people use copper spray but does that work?

I wouldnt use loctite on those bolts unless you want the threads comming out with the bolts next time you need to take off your manifold.

Why not pull the manifold off there and resurface it?

It sounds like it's warped pretty badly.

nah its not warped. its a new manifold. I checked and it sits perfectly flat when i set it on a table. I want to know if people are using factory gaskets for their turbo manifolds?

I've used the factory metal gaskets for my turbo manifolds, and it's worked just fine. All my flanges have been mild steel, though.

Maybe cut a few reliefs in the turbo flange, then re-torque the bolts when the motor is hot.

If it's a stainless flange, you're going to have problems no matter what.

yes we use factory gaskets.

Most likely your bolts are backing out. Use some crushwashers on them and tourqe them to factory specs. I had to use crushwashers for my full race mani and it solved the problem.

mani to turbo was another story, I used high temp loctite, crush washers and still had problems. I double nutted the bolts and no problems since.

on my last setup i used a metal gasket and it leaked on the ends, now on my new setup i used copper RTV (high temp gasket maker) on everything and let it sit for a day after tightening all the parts together. I haven't had any leaks at all...

resurface the manifold, buy grade 8 hex bolts or what ever bolts that is grade 8, and use the Mr Gaskets copper gasket (like 20). Check the bolts daily until the issue has resolved. Good luck

I had the same problem for awhile and no matter how I tried to retight or use looktite, it didn't work the heat brakes down the properties of the locktite.
one of my bolts was backing out.
My manifold was new and it looked straight at simple sight but it wasn't.
Finally i took off the manifold and the head off and I resurfaced booth of them.
Also I insatalled bigger studs and a braket to hold the turbo assembly to the block to avoid turbo pull.
That seemed to work, I'm boosting 18psi

Did you replace the oem studs? If you still have studs in there try just putting straight bolts through the manifold into the head.
