Stock Tach JUMPING ???? anyone else

Default Stock Tach JUMPING ???? anyone else

i have a 98 civic, and the tach is fine, till i get into vtec then it jumps from 5500 to 6000 real quick like a jerk then all the way to 7500 real quick and i know im not revving that high.. anyone else have a jumpy tach

You might want to look into your ignitor. Usually when you get a jumpy tach like that the ignitor is going out.

im sorry i dont know what an ignitor is? u mean my coil? i have an external msd coil..

the control module go to a local parts store ask for that part then you will know and its inside the dizzy i mean distributor.

the ignitor inside your distributor is going out.

i can FEEL a slight power loss and my tach jumps around...

will a OBD0 dizy ignitor work????

oh i see, well are ignitors expensive?.. if they are might as well get a whole new dizzy from ebay.. is this common? whats the life span of an ignitor
