Default Failed emissions

So my '88 DX failed it's emissions test.

A little history if it matters. It has 181k on it now. Bought it this past march with 179,500. Carfax says it passed emissions last year when it had 177k. No mods, no anything, all stock.

The exhaust test shows this:

Hydrocarbons (HC)
Standards: 0.80
Readings: 0.95

Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Standards 15.0
Readings 15.3

Can what needs to be replaced be figured out by these numbers/test results? O2 sensor and the cat?

Just do a tune up and you should pass. You barely fail you just gotta make her run a little bit nicer.

I've got a SFAC that I haven't installed yet, could that help me out at all? No I haven't changed the fuel filter yet.

Yeah, get complete tune up if you haven't done that. Few years ago my integra failed due to rich fuel in the engine so I turned down the fuel pressure down and passed

It has had it's tune up done. I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, belts, oil, coolant.

I'm going to be installing my SAFC tomorrow, because I actually have the time to, before I do my MPFI swap with DSM injectors.(Getting ready for turbo) Can I use it to make it run a tab bit leaner? I'm not really sure how to adjust the timing, nor do I have the tools to at this point. Plus I am kind of in a crunch. Gotta have it fixed/ a solution before the end of the week...or my license gets suspended. No I didn't procrastinate, I got the notice in the mail TODAY. I put in a request that the car wan't driveable when I had the axles out, but I guess that didn't make it to the Secretary of State. Oh well, just means I actually have to have it fixed now, lol.

I notice you didn't replace the fuel filter? Try that and turn the dist. down a little bit it will retard it. I'm not sure which way clockwise or counterclock wise. You should be able to hear it idle down that means it's retarding.
