well why are you swaping the motor? B16's are relatively cheap whats your price range you might get a better build stronger motor if you were to build the b16 for a lil boost.

It would be cheaper to swap another motor. But you just never know what condition the motor is in. Better to rebuild it than to swap it.

If you could do it yourself, I would just go for it, buy the part and do a DIY

According to Omniman's DVD, you should use GSR bearings when you rebuild the B16. Just need to get your rods re-tanged. If you rebuild it yourself, let us know how it went!

I don't mean to hijack, but I'm also thinking about rebuilding a spare B16A for ~20psi, Can anyone recommend a good tutorial that documents the process specifically?

and what do you mean by "rebuild"? i've heard people say they rebuild an engine and all they did was redo the heads and put on a new timing belt.

Prices vary greatly and you get what you pay for.
was quoted $1200 for complete rebuild fully re-assembled, new pistons.... gotta wonder what the hell kinda parts they use...
Quoted $700 for: (lower end only) tank, hone, bearings, level deck, rings, crank polish, re-assemble... oem parts... more if bore and pistons is needed.
$250 for valve job w/4 valves replaced

is this a difficult job to do on ur own?

thing is, this is my daily, so i dont want a lot of down time
would a swap be much quicker?

my budget is around 2-3 thousand, hopefully closer to two, and preferable w/ a tranny
is there any sites that offer usdm 99-00 b16s?
most sites i went to offer jdm b16s from 92-95 sirIIs or b16As from older generations ...

if i swap, i'd rather purchase from a reputable source than some random guy ..
and if i could do the rebuild myself, maybe rebuild my existing motor as a side project ..

btw, thanks for all the info so far
