Default normal to hear loud exhaust noise from inside the car?

okay. i have recently put in a mugen exhaust, im thinking it might be an exhaust leak. i think air is escaping from between the axle and the midpipe, and i can hear it when im by it. while im driving, i can hear it so loud it overlaps my music, even if its turned up semiloud.

plus, the mugen twin loop sounds louder than my old exhaust (apexi wordsport 2) ...strange

how much did you pay for this "mugen" exhaust?

i've never heard of hearing an exhaust leak while driving.

i think you bought a "mugen" exhaust on ebay for 27 bucks.

apex ws2 is quite, i love my ws. any aftermarket exhaust is louder than the ws. the greddy evo stands side by side with the apex ws.

as for your exhaust leak, do you have the donut gasket in your axle back to midpipe? and i think it is normal for you to hear your exhaust..especially when driving by something such as a bush or something that goes up halfway up the door along the sidewalk or divider.

make sure you clean up the flanges before you put in the nwe gasket. There is always some residual gasket left over when I change something on my exhaust. Those little peices will create gaps in the new gaskets contact area and leaks happen from there.

Also which connection are you refering to?
Are you 100% positive you have the right gasket in there? (sounds silly but I've seen it before) There are several styles out there that seem the same but in practicality they are different.

Also twin loops are slightly louder on the inside of the car than a normal style muffler. Remember there is a time where the exhuast is pointed directly at you. Yes it gets turned and muffled but the pipe resonates and so does the car. It's usually not a lot though, if it's a lot louder then more than likely you have an exhaust leak that is pointed toward the car.

Use the permatex hi-temp rtv silicone, rather than stacking two gaskets.

im using a gasket that is about 2.75inches big even though its suppose to be 2.5.

plus, the brand is by vibrant. i just stuck the gasket on. i didnt put any copper silicone on there. i heard its suppose to help. i also just bought a 2nd gasket today. so maybe adding 2 gaskets and adding lots of copper silicone on it?
