i was wondering whats the correct way to remove ps out of a car(ej1) that comes equip w/ it?..ive been told couple different ways...
1). just remove it and dont worry bout.

2). remove it and got to install a manuel(non ps) rack...

3). just use the one in that came w/ the car and loop the line to each other(not sure what lines are they talking bout)

 

remove and loop lines and vent the line.

 

how do you go bout doing that?..i dont know which line to loop and where...

 

you have to some how tee all three lines to each other, then put a vent on one of them. I bought a kit from someone on here for my 94 coupe makes it a lot easier than trying to piece together your own kit. I forget what his name is though. I'll post it up once I find it.

its very easy and much cheaper to make your own "ps removal kit." you'll need to buy a fitting for the steering rack, a plastic T fitting, a clutch resevoir, and some tubing. i paid $12 for the fitting, and had everything else lying around the garage. there's no way in hell i'd pay $65 for this so called ps removal kit.

I'm thinking the same thing.

They're all like "omg that's cheap!!!" I'm like "omg that's a ******* rip off!!"

I would never pay that much, 12 bux DIY is more like it.

 

Oh yeah, PS @ OP:

The proper way is to do all that crap by removing the pump, and putting the manual rack in there, and all that ****.

It's also the most expensive and most time consuming.

 

the problem with putting in a manual rack is that they have a longer turning radius (not sure of the proper technical term) than power racks. it takes more cranks of the steering wheel with a manual rack to turn the wheels the same amount, which is annoying and takes more time.

for people who are completely in the dark about this subject and are looking for an easy out, then Padawan's kit is infact a good deal because it comes with everything you need and detailed instructions with diagrams and such. I, too, searched extensively for how to do the PS removal, and the Padawan kit was the best answer (for me).
